Powerlifting Joel Ferrell 2013 Award Winners

The AAU Powerlifting Committee is proud to present Allison Garcia with the 2013 Joel Ferrell Outstanding Performance Memorial Award.  The Joel Ferrell Award is presented each year to an athlete who demonstrates outstanding athletic accomplishments and sportsmanship. 

            Garcia, a native of Hebbronville, TX is no stranger to AAU Junior Olympic Games competition having placed 1st place in the Deadlift, Squat, and Bench in 2012.  She also placed 1st place in the AA State Championship. After undergoing knee surgery, the 2013 AAU Junior Olympic Games marked the first competition since her operation.  Allison also stars outside of Powerlifting as she volunteers with the Special Olympics, Jim Hogg County Fair Clean up, is a regular blood donor in south Texas. Garcia will be attending University of Texas at San Antonio in the fall where she will major in business administration.
